Welcome to May’s Volunteer Roundup, with the latest industry updates and training opportunities.
Launch of Vision for Volunteering
More than 80 organizations and thousands of visitors came together earlier this month at Volunteer Expo Live in Birmingham. We were thrilled to launch the Vision of Volunteering at the Expo! We also held an online launch on May 10 and explored the five themes of the Vision. We invite you to read all of the partners’ commitments to a long-term plan for volunteering and get involved too. Meanwhile, we are planning phase two.
Live Volunteer Expo
Thank you to everyone who came to the NEC Birmingham for the UK National Volunteering Fair. We hope you enjoyed the inspiring talks, learning workshops and lending a hand to pack more than 735 emergency food boxes which were delivered to Ukrainian refugees. You can express an interest to get involved in Volunteer Expo in the future.
Volunteer Week: June 1-7

Inclusive volunteering adapted to seniors
Last month, we held a workshop to design an age-friendly inclusive volunteering results framework. We are grateful to everyone who came to help us reflect on the barriers and challenges of volunteering for people aged 50 and over. Learn more about the project, including what we heard from you and find out how you can support this work, either through our advisory group or by joining our free action learning set. The deadline for expressions of interest is June 22.
Engaging and Supporting Youth to Volunteer: NCVO Workshop
According to NCVO members, at the height of the pandemic, young people under the age of 18 were actively engaged in volunteer roles. However, these suitable and meaningful opportunities are now increasingly difficult to find.
Subscribe to our free online workshop to explore ways to design age-appropriate volunteer roles for 13-17 year olds.
